What are T Levels?
T Levels are a new qualification for students aged 16 to 19 in England who’ve finished GCSEs.

The post-GCSE qualification that combines in-class learning and work experience. It's the best of both worlds, where theory meets practice. It's the know-how. T Levels are designed with 250 leading employers, so students can focus on the knowledge and skills businesses really need today and tomorrow. The subject list is growing year on year, with 18 courses available now followed by another four in autumn 2024. Each one opening doors to work placements, industry contacts and career paths.
One T Level is worth three A Levels. From here students can go anywhere: onto university, take on a higher apprenticeship, or launch your career and get straight into work. They're an alternative to A levels and apprenticeships, giving young people the technical and practical skills needed to be an asset in the workplace. T Levels combine classroom learning with a substantial industry placement.
Designed with employers, for employers
Employers have told us that they face a skills shortage that could impact the future success of your businesses. In response, the government has worked alongside hundreds of employers to design T Level courses that deliver the skills your organisations need.
Each T Level is equivalent in size to 3 A levels and helps young people develop the knowledge, attitude and practical skills to thrive in the workplace.
At the heart of each course, every T Level student completes an industry placement that lasts a minimum of 315 hours (approximately 45 days). Industry placements give you a unique opportunity to help develop new talent in your industry, and get young people work-ready.
