Employers realising the business benefits of T Levels
T Level industry placements have huge benefits for business, whilst positively impacting on the career paths chosen by young people.
Employers have much to gain from hosting a 45-day T Level industry placement student:
- They benefit from the solution T Levels provide to tackle skills shortages
- They are supporting and developing the future talent pool within local areas
- They are realising that students bring imaginative new ideas and a fresh perspective, whilst helping with day-to-day projects.
Employers are discovering the workforce of the future by offering a T Level industry placement. They are making the T Level difference.
Employers benefiting from T Levels
Employers from across England are realising the business benefits of T Levels and what they can gain from hosting students on their industry placements.
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust – T Levels supporting their future talent pipeline
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is the first NHS trust on the English mainland to provide community hospital, district nursing, learning disability, mental health and acute hospital services. The Trust employs over 9,000 colleagues across many different sites and everyone within the Trust plays their part in delivering outstanding patient care to the residents of Somerset.
The Trust has recently committed to offering T Level industry placements, working with Bridgwater and Taunton College, for a cohort of 20 Health T Level students - starting with the Trust in their first placement from November 2021. The students will be given exposure to a variety of adult nursing pathways with the Trust during the first year, and will see this breadth expand as they gain more confidence and develop their skills.
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust has an aspiration across the organisation – and the wider Somerset Integrated Care System - that Health T Level students will become the Nursing workforce of the future in Somerset, year after year.
South West Nissan – support with digital and IT
South West Nissan/Wellington Motor Group operate 3 Nissan Main Dealerships and 2 specialist used vehicle centres in Somerset and Devon. Realising the potential of growing their own talent, South West Nissan are currently hosting a T Level industry placement student, in their digital team. The support offered by their industry placement student means extra help, one day a week for up to 45 days over the course of the 2 year qualification. Supporting in all areas of IT, their student has created unified controllers for an online service, configured ipads and laptops, supported with asset tagging and the transfer of large pieces of IT equipment.
South West Nissan believe T Levels are a great qualification for young people and are seeing real benefits to their business by offering an industry placement.
INFINITY 27 – bridging the skills gap to benefit the wider industry
INFINITY 27 is a small business with seven employees, covering gaming, interactive 3D and augmented and virtual reality.
The business recognises a skills gap in the immersive industry, with graduates leaving courses with a range of skills and knowledge but with little to no real-world experience. INFINITY 27 are passionate about bridging skills gaps, and can do so by providing meaningful T Level industry placements - giving students the chance to work on real-world projects, whilst gaining industry experience and developing softer skills.
Through T Level industry placements, INFINITY 27 are able to work with training providers to balance students' learning needs against their business activities, providing students with key skills and experience to get them ready to find work within the industry; whilst they benefit from students completing tasks that impact live projects from day one - encouraging communication, confidence, problem solving and ownership - which are all critical when working in immersive teams.
